Dr Fateme Zare is a transdisciplinary researcher at the Institute for Water Futures and the Fenner School of Environment & Society. Her expertise lies in complex systems, particularly focusing on water resources and integrated modelling. Fateme employs computational and participatory approaches to model socio-ecological systems, utilizing knowledge co-production methods to shape sustainability decisions in an uncertain future. She also designs her research methodology using a range of knowledge sources and quantitative and qualitative methods often from Decision-Making Under Deep Uncertainty, Multi-Sector Dynamics, System Dynamics, and Integrated Assessment Modelling.

With a Ph.D. from the Fenner School of Environment and Society at the Australian National University, her doctoral research cantered on "Designing and evaluating practices and tools to improve integrated assessment and modelling processes in the water sector."

An Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), Fateme has a proven track record in teaching, covering courses like Systems Thinking and Modelling, Evidence-based Problem-solving, and Stakeholder Management. She has presented widely at international conferences, contributing significantly to academic journals.  Previously associated with UNSW Canberra and various consulting and research roles, Fateme is eager to collaborate with academics, government bodies, community groups, and industry professionals.
