Strategy
Read about our strategy and goals.
The future of water poses one of the most complex challenges we face as a nation and a global community. The ANU Institute for Water Futures is an interdisciplinary research institute created to respond to this challenge. Established in 2020, our Institute unites researchers and students from across the ANU to investigate strategies for how we can manage water to meet environmental, economic and cultural needs over the long term.
At IWF we adopt a futures-focused and collaborative approach. Our research encompasses advanced technologies, modelling, the social and natural sciences, governance, economics and policy. By harnessing expertise from different fields, we strive to create innovative tools and foster novel perspectives. Our ultimate goal is to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change and other external influences, ensuring the sustainable management of this vital resource.
