About

This collaboration between the School of Cybernetics and the Institute for Water Futures explores alternative futures transformed by climate change and reimagines our evolving relationship with water.

Drawing from interdisciplinary research and using varied mediums and compelling storytelling, the program will produce a series of creative and immersive outputs designed to bring new and varied perspectives into conversations around water futures.

The first of these is an anthology of water futures-focused speculative fiction, tentatively titled Hydropunk. The collection will feature 12-15 short stories penned by established and emerging authors, covering themes of hope and resilience under extreme and changing environmental conditions. With funding secured through the School of Cybernetics, production on the project is now underway, with publication set for 2025.
